The Lonestar Peplum Shirt in Optic

A tailored Western-inspired button-down engineered around one specific silhouette move — Warp + Weft’s Lonestar Peplum Shirt takes a 100% cotton poplin shirt and rebuilds its body through a front-and-back pleat system that defines the waist, then releases into a short, structured peplum at the hip. The front has two or three inverted pleats positioned at the waist seam, pressed clean and drawing the fabric inward to create a fitted waist definition before releasing outward at the high hip into a tailored peplum of approximately 2–3 inches of structured volume that falls evenly around the body. The back is where the construction is most visible and most considered: two prominent vertical box pleats run from the center back yoke seam downward, providing ease through the back body and the same peplum release at the hip that the front carries — so the silhouette is consistently shaped all the way around rather than fitted at the front and shapeless at the back. The result is a white shirt that looks pulled together untucked in a way that most white shirts do not: the peplum hem sits at the high hip and the pleat-defined waist creates a deliberate hourglass shape between collar and hem without requiring a belt, a tuck, or a layer to make the proportions work. The fabric is 100% cotton poplin in Warp + Weft’s crisp Optic white — a clean, neutral bright white with the fine horizontal-rib weave structure of a proper poplin, a smooth surface with a crisp hand feel that holds sharp fold lines, resists wrinkling better than a looser weave, and creates clean shirt lines in movement. Shell buttons run center-front and at each single-button barrel cuff, tonal stitching throughout, clean hem. No stretch. True to size. By Warp + Weft. XS–XL. Style #: 59630.

Styling Suggestions

  • Wear untucked with dark navy or dark indigo flare or bootcut jeans and black pointed-toe or western-toe flat shoes or ankle boots as shown in the campaign — the Lonestar’s peplum hem and front pleat system are specifically designed to be worn untucked, where the engineered waist definition and the peplum release do the proportion work that a tucked shirt achieves by showing the waistband; the dark denim and the crisp Optic white create the cleanest and highest-contrast combination for this silhouette, and the western-toe flat grounds the Lonestar name’s heritage reference without reading as costume
  • Wear with straight-leg or slim-leg dark jeans or tailored trousers and a blazer worn open over the shirt — the peplum hem sits cleanly below a blazer’s front opening and is visible at the hip, adding the shirt’s tailored detail to an otherwise standard blazer-and-jean combination; the Optic white shirt is the most versatile possible blazer layering base because it reads as both crisp enough for a work context and relaxed enough for a dressed-up weekend outfit
  • Wear half-tucked — front hem tucked loosely into a high-waisted midi skirt or wide-leg trouser, back hem left out — for the most fashion-forward version of this shirt’s silhouette; the peplum hem half-tucked into a waistband creates a layered, intentional visual at the front where the peplum volume is partially contained and partially released, and the back pleat construction keeps the back body clean and smooth even when the hem is left untucked
  • Style as the foundation of a head-to-toe white or tonal cream combination — white linen or wide-leg white trousers, white or ecru accessories, and the Lonestar as the structured top layer — where the poplin’s crisp surface and the peplum’s architectural quality read as the most considered element in a monochromatic white outfit; the shell buttons’ natural-material quality and the tonal stitching’s restraint both reinforce the elevated, intentional character of a tonal white combination
