What Is Congenital CMV?
Congenital CMV (cytomegalovirus) is the most common infectious cause of birth defects in the United States, affecting 1 in 200 babies. Many babies with congenital CMV show no symptoms at birth, but it can lead to lifelong challenges including hearing loss, vision loss, and developmental delays.
